The human resources departments of humanitarian organisations, like those of multinationals, often do not have the time to prepare their expatriate staff for missions which may well be difficult. Very often human resource departments cannot cope because of the large numbers, particularly when they have to launch an emergency operation. And sometimes they are not themselves trained in humanitarian psychology.
The CPH offers, in collaboration with the HR department, to be of assistance to a certain number of humanitarian workers,
initially by a briefing session, giving informations concerning the particular stress of working in the field and establishing a rapport. This first contact enables the CPH to
maintain contact with the staff member when in the field by means in particular of its system of e-mail support
and then to debrief them psychologically on their return and make a start with them on the delicate phase of reinsertion or else of preparation for a new mission.
Our Geneva team is trained for this kind of exercise, whether it be with large international organisations or much smaller NGO's. It would operate moreover in close collaboration with the human resources department. The professional experience of the CPH enables it to propose this service by means of quarterly or annual subscriptions.
